We are conducting a search for Corrosion and Materials Engineer for our energy client located in the Newark, Delaware area. This premier Company offers a stimulating work, above average compensation in a family friendly and community involved environment.  The focus would be to provide corrosion and materials engineering services in order to ensure safety, reliability and mechanical equipment integrity.  
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provides Materials Engineering consulting, including inspectors, engineers, management, operations, and maintenance.
  • Provides consultation on materials selection, corrosion monitoring and control, remaining life assessment, and repair strategies.
  • Actively works to maintain open and clear communication between Reliability and Inspection group, Process and Design Engineering, Operations, and Project Engineering.
  • Facilitates cooperation among technical groups to improve reliability.
  • Participates in planning and executing work plans for plant turnarounds and capital projects.
  • Supports and updates plant corrosion/damage mechanism reviews as part of the PHA process, Metallurgical Reviews, and Risk-Based Inspection plans.
  • Develops and reviews technical specifications relating to materials and corrosion, including development and updating of Integrity Operating Windows and Corrosion Control Documents.
  • Mentors inspectors, engineers, and others in materials technologies such as materials selection, welding and fabrication, and corrosion control. Manages Level 2 and 3 Fitness for Service Assessments.
  • Works with other Materials Engineers in to develop common tools, processes, and decision making criteria.
  • Works within the industry community for training, obtaining technical information needed for consultation, and staying current with the state of the art knowledge that may have application at the site.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated 5+ years of experience in process, refinery or power plant Materials Engineering or equivalent, including corrosion mechanism reviews, inspection practices and techniques, material properties, and repair techniques is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree is required.
  • Must be able to work in and around operating facilities, climb ladders, access internals of equipment, etc.
  • Must be willing and able to respond to emergency calls and work extended hours, especially during turnaround events and occasionally on an unplanned basis.
  • Technical Aptitude – Demonstrated strong fundamentals in Materials Engineering technical knowledge; materials selection, corrosion monitoring and control, failure analysis, interpretation of inspection data, and mechanical design.
  • Proven knowledge of plant processes and fixed equipment damage mechanisms.
