DescriptionSummary Independent E&P based out of the DFW area is seeking a Sr. Geologist for their Business Development Group. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical knowledge and technical leadership capabilities coupled with extensive experience in the subsurface analysis of unconventional resource plays including gas and oil shales, tight gas sands, and coalbed methane.
Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Develop and update strategic criteria for new plays and/or entry into new core areas while being a key contributor in the evaluation of asset/corporate acquisitions, farmins, open acreage leasing, etc. Generate new ideas and modified methods of shale reservoir characterization that are required to reduce uncertainty in volumetric analyses, location selection and well spacing, drilling and stimulation requirements, etc. directed toward delivering repeatable, commercial well results Resolve characterization of multi-scale sedimentology, litho-and-sequence stratigraphy, biostratigraphy, geochemistry and then relating these to log and seismic response(s); integrating petrophysical and geomechanical properties to identify and map stacked lithofacies and parasequences, i.e. building a depositional sequence stratigraphic framework Provide technical guidance for geoscientists, petrophysicists, and consultants including such focus areas as 3D seismic (survey design, acquisition, processing and interpretation), pilot well planning and evaluation, monitoring new play development, providing key insights on play emergence and strategic advice.
Qualifications MS/PhD in Geology / Geophysics 10 years of experience in Geology/ Geophysics with focus on Unconventional Reserves (shale, tight gas/ sands, CBM) Recognition as a technical leader in unconventional resource play evaluation
