DescriptionCandidate applying for the position of CONSOLE SUPERVISOR will be responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, reliable and optimized operation of refinery process units and products movement area by manipulating computerized controls, directing the activities of field operations personnel and coordinating with support groups (i.e. Planning, Process Engineering, Process Control, etc.)
NOTE: This opening is currently at the Sulfur unit, however; as a Console Supervisor you may be moved to any other Operational Unit as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Safety manage, control, and optimize operation of process units and product movement from computerized controls and directing outside operating personnel. Must optimize the reliability and profitability of operations, within the limits of the equipment and regulatory permits. This includes reviewing and implementing weekly operating plans, preparing/implementing daily operating instructions, analyzing and troubleshooting operational issues/problems, taking personnel corrective actions, and directing the daily actions and priorities of field operating personnel to assure that the operation remains safe, within limits and profitable.
2. Must understand and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations regarding unit operations during assigned work shift. Working with the Shift Superintendent to ensure that accurate information is provided for required reporting documents to be submitted to proper management or regulatory agency when deviations occur. Must understand, follow, and direct field operations personnel in complying with all safe work policies and procedures at all times.
3. Must coordinate with other Console Supervisors, Shift Superintendents and Business Services on shift, to operate units, and control feedstock and product movements to meet refinery production plans and product quality specifications
4. Must optimize unit operating costs (energy, catalyst, chemicals and maintenance expense) while maximizing process unit throughput and production of high valued products. Controls waste generation and maximize the value added activities of shift employees. Work with the process control group to identify and develop control schemes to help achieve this optimization. Also, work with the process engineering group to identify and eliminate unit limits and/or constraints. Coordinates maintenance work activities between the operators and maintenance department supervision. Also, supervises the development of maintenance work lists and prioritizes the jobs on the list.
5. Coach and counsel outside operating employees on shift on work performance issues. Provide recommendations to Operations Department Management with respect to discipline and performance evaluation of outside operating employees and participate as necessary in the initiation and implementation of performance feedback or discipline issues. Coordinates and directs training assignments and progress of the operators on shift. Participate in and make recommendations to management on personnel staffing needs and hiring process. Responsible for vacation scheduling and ensuring adequate staffing for unit on each shift.
6. Monitor and audit safety, housekeeping, procedural compliance and reliability performance of operations and maintenance personnel.
7. Hold pre-job safety meetings and safety huddles with employees.
8. Substitutes for Unit Supervisor and does special projects as required including the development and upkeep of Operating Procedures, development and upkeep of Operating Procedures, development of critical safety procedures, training operating personnel, and functioning as Operations Field Supervisor durning Turnaround, slowdown or other major work periods.
EDUCATION:
--- B.S. Degree in Engineering --- Two (2) to ( Three 3) years job related experience --- Detailed knowledge of refinery operations, maintenance and safety procedures/policies as well as detailed knowledge of unit operations and the DCS system --- Staff planning skills related to assuring effective utilization of technical personnel --- Consulting skilled with technical personnel --- The ability to work under consultative direction toward predetermined goals and objectives --- Ability to work independently and supervise others. --- Model leadership style, which encourages open communication and teamwork
NOTE: Though detailed knowledge of the DCS system is required,
