PURPOSE:

•  Effectively provide reservoir engineering evaluations of Exploration Division opportunities.

•  Integrate all functional inputs into a fit-for-purpose evaluation (e.g., drilling, marketing, commercial, etc).

•  Communicate results, including uncertainties and ranges, to PDE and higher management.  Where appropriate, clearly recommend a course of action.

•  Assist with well and DST planning and operations

•  Leverage specialty skills across all Petroleum Division opportunities

•  Share knowledge and learnings with Pre-Development Evaluation and the general reservoir engineering community. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•  Perform excellent technical work and maintain specific technical skills in one or more of the following disciplines: classic reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, integrated production modeling, production forecasting.

•  Proactively identify uncertainties and risks in conceptual field development scenarios and identify solutions to effectively resolve them.

•  Effectively evaluate prospects in new ventures, exploration, and appraisal stages using fit-for-purpose methodologies.

•  Develop production forecasts for prospects in the exploration and appraisal stage using analytical and numerical methods.

•  Provide ranges in recovery factors and production profiles that account for all subsurface uncertainties using fit-for purpose methodologies.

•  Develop feasible field development concepts as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

•  Work closely with an integrated PDE team to develop understanding of reservoirs and development risks.

•  Identify recovery efficiencies due to water injection, artificial lift, active well management, and reservoir management and include these recovery efficiencies in production forecasts.

•  Manage PVT and MDT data and flow assurance studies and incorporate data in reservoir assessments.

•  Present evaluation results to the team, in peer reviews, in joint partner meetings and workshops.

•  Adhere to HSEC policy and management standards, and exercise BHPB’s safe work policies

•  Transfer knowledge and learnings to other Reservoir Engineers in PDE and the Petroleum reservoir engineering community.

•  Constructively participate on occasion in Peer Reviews and Assists of Exploration, Development, and Production projects.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualification

•  Tertiary university degree level in an engineering, mathematics or science subject

Experience & Technical Competencies

•  Minimum of 15 years with experience in the upstream oil and gas industry

•  Experience in opportunity identification and evaluation

•  Good knowledge of all reservoir engineering basics

•  Strong analytical and mathematical skills

•  User of reservoir simulation and other methods for modelling reservoir production dynamics

•  Working knowledge of detailed pipeline network models and advanced well test analysis methods in project work

•  Applicable knowledge of geoscience and production engineering

•  Excellent communication skills with ability to influence and interact across technical disciplines

•  Experience as lead reservoir engineer in a multi-disciplinary team environment

·        Experience in Ultra Deep Water, esp. in GOM is Preferred

 

Languages:

English fluent

 

Compensation:

Base salary will be close to $130-200K + (doe); this position is Bonus Eligible of up to 30% of base salary; Excellent additional Benefit Package which will make this an extremely compelling overall Package; Excellent Relo.  (As a side note on this client over the last few years their turnover rate has been less than 5%--they do treat their employees well and are very involved in their community).
